Problem statement

• From the research I’ve done on different smart home devices and hubs, I’ve come to learn that due to there being different technological ecosystems there is a combability issues between devices and manufacturers, this makes it difficult to create a seamless smart home experience.
• Another issue I came across lies within security and privacy, many smart devices, especially older or cheap models may not receive regular security updates and this leaves them vulnerable to cyberattacks. Besides this it is known that these devices are constantly monitoring their users to better suit their commands.
• Due to connectivity issues some smart home devices cannot perform to their best abilities; this can be due to the homes being spacious or having thick walls that interfere with IoT and WIFI connectivity.

Vision statement

We envision a smart home experience that is seamless, secure, and universally accessible. By integrating AR with automation, we aim to eliminate compatibility issues and create a system where devices work effortlessly together without the need for WIFI. Our focus is on building a private and secure environment, ensuring smart technology enhances daily life without constant data collection or cybersecurity risks. By removing connectivity barriers, our smart home system will function reliably in any space, making automation intuitive, efficient, and truly accessible for everyone.

Core values

I did a small mind map to help develop my 5 core values. During this exercise I thought about words that I want to associate with the brand, I had to make sure they are bold and firm since a smart home UI/UX would have to feel safe and trustworthy

Out of these the ones I decided to work with are these:

• Privacy & Security – User data is protected, with a focus on safety and minimal data collection.
• Reliability – Our system works anytime, anywhere, without depending on Wi-Fi.

• Accessibility – Smart home technology should be intuitive and available to everyone.

Name picking

Upon picking my core values I decided to write down some names that I think would correlate with an ocular product; hence I wrote some names that go along with “eye”, “safety”, and “home”

Despite coming up with some names myself I decided to ask Chat GPT to draft some for me because I wanted to have more names to experiment with
