I’ve been instructed to conduct case studies to further improve the creation of my banking brand and have a clue on the does and don’ts
After searching on the branding style guides website for a few mins I stumbled on the Red Bull branding style and I really liked the colour choices they have, as seen in the images below these colours are vibrant but not too much in your face, and they’re also quite refreshing. I especially like their outrageous orange, submit yellow, soaring blue, deep blue, and their another blue. These colours really contrast against each other and they stand out very much, even though I plan on using similar colours like theirs, I want my to be a tad bit subtle and still stand out like the colours Red Bull has. I feel as though the orange, yellow, and shades of blue will work really well for my banking brand as blue is often associated with trustworthiness and security, I would use the yellow as it is a friendly colour and isn’t intimidating, that’s why IKEA’s customer services’ wear yellow tops to appear more friendly and approachable, as for the orange I would use it because I think it’s such a refreshing and youth-like colour and I want my brand to appear fresh, this will help draw my audience as people tend to like new fresh things.
Monzo is another online banking app based in London, this app offers a range of unique features and hence is seen as something very different, and this is why they attract a young demographic to their app. Most of the users on this app are below the age of 34, meaning the majority are people in their late teens to people and their late twenties. The branding style is very efficient and colourful which gives a youthful vibe. Monzo doesn’t have a specific target demographic whereas I do, regardless I think we share a similar audience and mission.

After searching for banks that are aimed at a young demographic and also offer financial advice I came across MoneyLion, this is my first time hearing of this online banking app. MoneyLion is a U.S.A. based banking app that was introduced in 2013, in New York. The tone of voice on their app speaks for itself, they clearly knew what they were doing when they created this app, I see it as a direct competitor. With 4.5 star rating from 100,000 reviews on Google Play Store, and a 4.7 star rating from 110,000 reviews on Apple Store, it looks like this unheard of banking app is very trustworthy and people aren’t having issues with it. The main reason I chose this bank as my competitor is because I really admire the screen that says “We’re celebrating Financial Literacy by hooking you up with money hacks that’ll make your…”, this shows that they teach their users how to use and grow their money which is something I want to implement in my baking app.
