Analysis

-Spotify

The first project of this module is to create a music app that must have 3-5 screen. Before starting with anything I decided to do an analysis on some well known music apps.

Spotify is one of the popular music apps with over 456 million listeners. The app has a lot of convenient features henceforth its popularity around the globe. Their app is very easy to use and their monthly subscription is fair, students get a discount of £5.99 a month. I like the simplicity and clarity in the app, it is easy to navigate on and the offline feature is very enjoyable. I’d say the only ones who don’t have the full package and aren’t enjoying Spotify as much are those who are using the free - plan Spotify, this free plan has a limited amount of skips and it also plays adverts after you listen to a certain amount of songs, it also doesn’t allow you to play a song of your choice. Besides this the app is very reliable, easy and fun to use. There are some features in this app that I’d love to incorporate in my future music app, I also hope to achieve their level of consistency.

-SoundCloud

The second streaming platform that I researched was SoundCloud, it’s a popular online music platform that allows users to upload, promote, and share their music, podcasts, and other audio content. It’s a platform where upcoming artists can showcase their work and build their skills a following. The app is very accessible and its free - plan has less adverts that Spotify does, unlike Spotify, SoundCloud allows its users to play any audio of their choice, there is a limit to the amount of times you can skip songs though, but that limit is higher than Spotify’s, making SoundCloud a very accessible app. This app also has a very coherent layout like Spotify with their play screen featuring an equalizer, I think this is a cool feature and it would be cool if I could add something similar into my music app.

-Apple Music

And lastly Apple Music, Apple has their music app deeply connected into their Apple ecosystem, this allows their users to seamlessly connect to other devices and continue listening to their music, it also means that they can view their playlists across their other Apple devices. Just like the other music apps I analysed Apple too has a very simplistic and coherent layout. I would say Apple Music is almost a copy of Spotify. The app really is the creation of Apple because it is very minimalistic and functional
