We were given a brief in which was stated that we either select a designer of our own choice or one of the designers listed in the brief, we also had the option to choose a design firm or company to write the 1500 words essay on using web design knowledge we learned in IXD101
I decided to do my essay on Jonny Ive, the apple designer who gave apple a design standard; I chose Ive because I find minimalism intriguing and I wanted to learn more about his design principles and where he gets his ideas from
The essay is titled “How Jonny influenced Apple’s design language”, and in this essay I will have the introduction and four other paragraphs named, design principles, minimalism is design, prioritising users, and design evolution, and then the conclusion which will tie the essay together
These were some initial sketches I did for the web. I decided to mimmick the third design because it was the most realistic web design with the experience I have so far

I initially was going to do the website on Framer but I eventually chose to go the hard way and use HTML & CSS because I wanted to challenge myself, I like putting myself through a bit of stress, also I wasn’t enjoying Framer at all and I wanted to gain more skills and experience with HTML & CSS
When designing this website I first wrote my text in Word, after doing so I used the Harvard reference generator to get my references, upon finishing my essay I used the Daring Fireball markdown dingus to add the basic codes to the text.
Once I did so I copied and pasted my essay which had the headers and blockquotes already, and then I proceeded to finish the rest of the coding on visual studio code.
I didn’t encounter any problem at all with the HTML or CSS, it was all quite enjoyable, the only bit that was not so enjoyable was the grid layout, it really did frustrate me a lot but in the end I figured it all out.
I used Playfair Display serif as font for all the texts and blockquotes, and Proza Libre san serif for the headers.
