This week we looked at various illustration works of different talented artists, and we learned about what media they use to show their creativeness. We looked at how illustrations can range from physical to digital objects, for example Paul Elliman used fax machines to photocopy and print.
We uncovered the benefits of illustrations in design and how this could help when creating the music app, we were encouraged to resort to physical art to aid the aesthetic of our music app. Another thing I gathered during this lecture is that it is important to gather inspiration from objects and materials around you, it makes the creative process more fun, and I personally think this will help me a lot in the future, for example I could get inspired by nature, or cars or even a bottle of perfume. Overall I agree with todays lesson that different sorts of illustration can assist my work in many ways, I’ve also learned different ways to create illustrations that I can incorporate in my future projects
Paul Elliman
Paul, a British artist based in London, UK, was born in 1961. He is known for his unique approach of using shapes and objects to create typography. His work showcases letters formed from a variety of differently shaped objects, it’s intriguing and also reminds me of a class exercise we did where we formed an animal of our choice and our initials, using shapes. This professional work by Paul Elliman communicates his message effectively and shows the potential of simplicity. This realization has brought me comfort, knowing that even professional artists find beauty in the simplistic, and they too, resort to basic shapes to create stunning works. It's inspiring to see how such simple shapes can be transformed into something well understood, this has been mind opening for me and will help me in my own work. This experience has expanded my understanding of art and design, and I look forward to integrating these lessons into my future projects.
Kurt Schwitters
Kurt Hermann Eduard Karl Julius Schwitters was born on the 20th June 1887 and died on the 8th January 1948. He was a German artist born in Hanover, Germany. Kurt worked with various media and genre including, graphic design, typography, painting, and more. He was a very versatile man. The artwork that really caught my eye were his collage work, I am a huge fun of collage because collages are very fun to create and the possibilities of it are almost endless. Schwitters used actual trash, such as broken items and scraps of paper, in his collages. As seen in the images below some of his work entail painting and some only have paper and what looks like News graphic papers. I find it fascinating how he’s bold enough to even use random objects and pieces of wood to create his artwork.

Olly Moss
Olly Moss is a designer based in Winchester. He has done work for companies like PlayStation, Mondo, Lucasfilm and Warner Brothers. A lot of people try to imitate his work but they never quite get it. Olly creates his artwork through a combination of traditional and digital techniques. Something interesting that I uncovered is that during his creation of the Star Wars posters, he used a screen printing technique instead of digitally creating it. This process was difficult as there are layers of ink to make the artwork pop
Kyle Tezak
Kyle Tezak is a talented designer and developer known for his innovative approach to web design. His work often is a combination of clean, minimalist aesthetics with interactive features to create a captivating digital experience. Kyle’s work is very modern and minimalist, in most of his work he resorts to using lines, shapes, and grids to make complex and aesthetically pleasing artwork. Artist like this make me really realise that it’s best not to overthink and complicate things, it’s best to stick to the simple things and even if they seem easy the minimalist outcome will be well appreciated
