In today’s lecture I learned about how images and photography can help enhance my app and make it aesthetically pleasing and fun to use. Photography makes brands more interesting and appealing, this works well when it matches the aesthetics of the brand. Good photography will also enhance a user’s experience. What I got from this is that imagery should match the colours and values of the brand. Photography also aids communicate the personality of the brand identity. We were shown how the golden ratio and rule f thirds should be applied in photography as it helps guide the viewers eyes to what you want them to see. I don’t agree with the rule of thirds though because I think people will look at wherever they want to look. Another that I liked during this class was the excavator in the background of the Translink photo, I think it’s humorous and organic. This class has taught me about the benefits of photography when it comes to branding, I’ve always kind of neglected this and from now onwards I’ll try and incorporate them in my brand if I find adequate images for my app.
