In today’s class we covered the importance of intellectual property and the crucial role it plays. Intellectual property is ensuring that your idea for a project doesn’t get stolen, this can be achieved by the use of a One-way NDA and/or a Mutual NDA.
Unilateral (one-way) — where the receiving Party agrees to treat the information provided by the disclosing Party as confidential.
Mutual (two-way) — used typically when the Parties to the Agreement are exploring a potential relationship, such as a partnership or collaboration and both sides need to share sensitive information with one another in order to make decisions about that relationship.
The use of Copyright also ensures that an artist doesn’t lose their work and has the right to the original product providing that they’re able to show iteration and timestamps of the original work.
